The state government has announced a significant hike in their daily remuneration. Those with University Grants Commission (UGC) qualifications will now receive ₹2,200 per working day, up from the previous ₹1,750 — with the monthly cap increased from ₹43,750 to ₹50,000.
The move underscores the government’s recognition of the vital role guest lecturers play in the state’s higher education ecosystem, especially in government and aided colleges.
While the hike has been widely welcomed, some lecturers voiced concerns over delays in disbursing payments and urged authorities to ensure timely implementation of the revised pay structure.
This pay revision is part of Kerala’s broader push to strengthen its education sector by ensuring fair compensation and improved working conditions for academic professionals.
