Kerala Cabinet Greenlights ₹118.33 Crore IT Tower at Kochi Infopark, Paving Way for Major Expansion

Kochi: The Kerala government has given the nod for a new non-SEZ IT building at Infopark Kochi’s Phase I campus, with an estimated investment of ₹118.33 crore. The project, funded through Infopark’s own resources and a bank term loan, will span 1.9 lakh square feet on 88 cents of land, aiming to ease the space crunch faced by IT companies in the park.

In a bold move to further strengthen Kochi’s IT landscape, the government has also unveiled plans for Infopark Phase III, covering 300 acres in Kizhakkambalam village through a land pooling model. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this expansion was signed last month between the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) and Infopark, in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Under this arrangement, the GCDA will pool around 1,000 acres of land for infrastructure, allied facilities, and future development. Detailed surveys including land boundaries, usage patterns, flood analysis, watershed mapping, and connectivity studies have already been completed, ensuring a robust foundation for the project.

With planning and discussions on infrastructure, implementation, and additional data collection in progress, this large-scale development is set to boost Kerala’s IT ecosystem and reinforce Kochi as a premier technology hub in South India, attracting more investments and creating new opportunities in the sector.
