Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to experience a surge in temperatures as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for Thursday and Friday. Isolated areas across the state could witness temperatures rising by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal levels.
With soaring temperatures and increased humidity, the weather is expected to be hot and uncomfortable, posing risks of heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke, dehydration, and sunburn. Authorities have advised people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and take necessary precautions to prevent health complications.
Adding to the concern, the National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has warned of high wave activity along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu coastline. Waves reaching heights of 0.4 to 1.0 meters are expected until 5:30 PM on Thursday, increasing the risk of coastal erosion and rough sea conditions. Fishermen and coastal residents have been urged to exercise caution.
With both rising temperatures and turbulent seas posing potential hazards, officials are urging the public to stay alert and follow safety advisories.
