The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) marked a historic milestone with its 100th successful launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The mission, carried out by the GSLV-F15 rocket, deployed the NVS-02 navigation satellite into orbit, strengthening India’s Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system. This indigenous system is set to enhance precise positioning services across India and its neighboring regions, serving as the country’s alternative to global navigation systems like the U.S. GPS.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised ISRO’s achievement, stating, “Congratulations to isro on the historic 100th launch! This incredible milestone illustrates the vision, dedication, and commitment of our scientists and engineers. With the private sector joining hands, India’s space journey will continue to attain new heights.”
Union Minister Jitendra Singh also commended the accomplishment, calling it a “landmark milestone.” He emphasized the significance of this launch in India’s growing space ambitions and expressed pride in being associated with the Department of Space during this historic moment.
This remarkable achievement reaffirms India’s expanding capabilities in space technology. Looking ahead, ISRO has ambitious plans, with 30 more missions scheduled by March 2025, further solidifying India’s place in the global space community.
