Indian shooting legend Jaspal Rana passed away on Friday morning at Max Saket Hospital in New Delhi. He had reportedly fallen ill while returning to India after participating in the ISSF World Cup in Munich. Upon his arrival in Delhi, he was admitted to the hospital, where he breathed his last.
One of India’s most celebrated shooters, Rana won eight medals at the Asian Games, including four gold medals. He also enjoyed remarkable success at the Commonwealth Games, securing 15 medals, of which nine were gold.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Indian sports, he was honoured with the Padma Shri, Arjuna Award, and Dronacharya Award.
Rana also played a key role as the coach of Manu Bhaker, who won two medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, further cementing his legacy in Indian shooting.
