In a major stride towards enhancing bilateral ties, India and Russia have signed a landmark agreement to boost train manufacturing and infrastructure development. The Indo-Russian venture, Kinet Railway Solutions, which includes Russia’s Metrowagonmash and Locomotive Electronic Systems along with India’s Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), will produce 120 Vande Bharat sleeper train sets. The agreement also includes 35 years of maintenance services, aimed at elevating India’s railway technology while meeting Russia’s growing production needs.
Despite challenges like US sanctions on Russian companies involved in the project, this collaboration demonstrates the countries’ shared commitment to modernizing rail systems and strengthening their economic partnership. The Vande Bharat sleeper trains are set to revolutionize travel, advancing India’s railway capabilities to global standards.
