Thiruvananthapuram: ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers in Kerala have announced an indefinite hunger strike from March 20, intensifying their ongoing protest for better wages and retirement benefits.
The Kerala ASHA Health Workers’ Association leaders stated that the agitation will continue until the government meets their key demands, including an increase in honorarium and the provision of proper retirement benefits.
ASHA workers have been protesting for months, highlighting their crucial role in the healthcare system and the need for fair compensation. Despite multiple discussions, the government has yet to provide a concrete solution, prompting the workers to escalate their protest to an indefinite hunger strike.
With the strike set to begin outside the Kerala Secretariat, the ASHA workers have urged the government to take immediate action to address their demands.
