Health Minister Veena George Urges Centre: Don’t Deny Kerala Its AIIMS Over Location Row

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Health Minister Veena George has appealed to the Union government not to let political wrangling over the proposed site delay or derail the establishment of an AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in the state.

Calling it a long-standing demand of the people of Kerala, the minister stressed that the institute’s sanction should not fall victim to location-based disputes. She also expressed support for Kozhikode as a potential site, with the proposal currently under review by the Union Finance Ministry.

Minister remarks come at a time when public debate and political contention over the AIIMS location are intensifying, raising concerns that the much-awaited project could be stalled.
