Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala have hit a new all-time high, soaring to ₹75,200 per sovereign (8 grams) after a ₹160 jump on Thursday. With a ₹20 hike per gram, gold is now priced at ₹9,400 per gram, breaking the previous record set on July 23.
The surge follows a brief dip below ₹74,000 last month, but prices have steadily climbed back, gaining over ₹1,800 in just five days. At the start of August, gold was trading at ₹73,200 per sovereign.
Analysts link the sharp increase to global market uncertainty and the U.S. hike in import tariffs on Indian goods, which has driven investors toward the safety of gold, boosting demand and prices.
As gold continues its bullish trend, consumers and investors alike are watching closely for further movements in the days ahead.
