Gold prices witnessed a massive surge in Kerala on Wednesday, with the price of one sovereign (8 grams) of 916 hallmark gold climbing to Rs 1,23,120.
According to the latest market rates released on today the price of one gram of 916 gold increased sharply to Rs 15,390, marking a rise of Rs 1,275 per gram compared to the previous day.
The rate of 18-carat gold also saw a steep increase. One gram of 18K gold is now priced at Rs 12,710, while eight grams cost Rs 1,01,680.
Silver prices too moved upward in the market. One gram of silver is priced at Rs 310, while eight grams cost Rs 2,480.
Jewellery traders said fluctuations in the international market and rising investor demand for precious metals have contributed to the sharp increase in prices.
