A gold crown weighing nearly 25 sovereigns was offered to Lord Guruvayurappan on Thursday, coinciding with the auspicious Muppattu Thursday of the Malayalam month of Mithunam.
The crown, studded with stones, was donated by Gopu Nandilath, owner of the Nandilath Group, a well-known home appliances and electronics chain. The offering ceremony took place before the noon pooja at the Guruvayur Temple.
Among those present were Devaswom Chairman A.V. Gopinath, temple trustee and former MLA Brahmasree Mallissery Parameswaran Namboodiripad, Devaswom Administrator M. Radha, and Shiny Gopu, wife of Gopu Nandilath.

The noon pooja was conducted with the deity adorned with the newly offered gold crown. Weighing 201.370 grams, the crown is estimated to be worth around ₹30 lakh.
A devoted worshipper of Guruvayurappan, Gopu Nandilath had earlier donated three elephants to the temple.
