New Delhi: The government on Wednesday said preparations for India’s ambitious Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission are progressing steadily, with work on the first uncrewed mission (G1) in an advanced stage.
Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, said the Human Rated Launch Vehicle (HLVM3), Crew Module, Service Module and Crew Escape System have been developed and tested. Assembly, integration and testing of the spacecraft are nearing completion.
He also said the astronaut trainees have completed their generic training in Russia, while mission-specific training is currently underway in Bengaluru.
The minister added that the indigenous Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) is under development and will be demonstrated during the uncrewed Gaganyaan missions before India’s first crewed spaceflight.
