Veteran MLA G. Sudhakaran was on Wednesday sworn in as the pro tem Speaker of the 16th Kerala Legislative Assembly during a brief ceremony held at Lok Bhavan.
Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath in the presence of Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan and members of the state cabinet.
A former leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sudhakaran won the April 9 Assembly election from the Ambalapuzha constituency with the support of the UDF.
