Former AIADMK minister Vellamandi R Natarajan has joined the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, party sources said on Thursday.
Natarajan met TVK general secretary N Anand, popularly known as “Bussy” Anand, and formally joined the party on May 27.
He is the fifth leader from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam to join TVK this week. Earlier, four rebel AIADMK MLAs had resigned from the Assembly and joined the ruling party.
Natarajan had won the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency in the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and had served as Tourism Minister. During the AIADMK leadership crisis, he supported former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.
He had rejoined the AIADMK earlier this year after O Panneerselvam aligned with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
