Mumbai: At least five Mumbai-bound flights, including three operated by IndiGo and two by Air India, were diverted to nearby airports on Saturday as heavy rainfall, poor visibility and unstable landing conditions disrupted flight operations.
According to a source at Mumbai International Airport, pilots of 17 other flights also had to carry out diversions before landing safely.
Of the five flights that were diverted, four later resumed their journey and landed in Mumbai after weather conditions improved. Airport authorities continued to monitor the situation as heavy rains affected air traffic in and around the city.
