New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested the promoter of a ghee manufacturing company in connection with the alleged adulteration of ghee used in preparing the famous Tirupati Laddu prasadam.

According to the ED, the ghee supplied for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) was allegedly made using refined palm oil, palmolein and various chemicals.

The agency said Kailash Chand Mangla, promoter of Sukriti Foods, was arrested by the ED’s Hyderabad office on September 17 under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Mangla was subsequently produced before a special PMLA court in Visakhapatnam, which remanded him to judicial custody, the ED said.
