The Election Commission of India has deployed 165 additional counting observers and 77 police observers in West Bengal to ensure smooth and secure vote counting for the ongoing Assembly elections.
The move aims to maintain a peaceful, transparent, and intimidation-free counting process. While counting observers will supervise proceedings inside counting halls, police observers will oversee security and law-and-order arrangements outside the centres.
The Commission said strict measures, including QR code-based ID verification and restrictions on mobile phone usage inside counting halls, have been put in place to ensure transparency and security.
