New Delhi : The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has temporarily closed entry and exit facilities at six metro stations in the national capital ahead of a Congress party protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The restrictions, which will remain in force until 4 pm on Monday, apply to Janpath, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk and Patel Chowk stations.
According to the DMRC, the decision was taken on security grounds in view of the planned demonstration. However, passengers will be able to use interchange facilities at all six stations, allowing them to switch between metro lines.
In a statement posted on X, the DMRC said the situation would be reviewed by security agencies and further updates would be issued as necessary.
The temporary closures are part of precautionary security arrangements ahead of the Congress protest in New Delhi.
