Delhi Air Pollution Worsens: GRAP-III Enforced as Air Quality Slips into ‘Severe’ Category

New Delhi: With air pollution levels rising sharply, authorities have enforced Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) after air quality deteriorated to the severe category. The move comes as hazardous smog conditions continue to pose serious health risks to residents.

Under GRAP-III, all construction and demolition activities have been banned in Delhi and the NCR to curb dust pollution. Additional restrictions include stricter controls on industrial emissions and measures to reduce vehicular pollution. Authorities have urged citizens to limit outdoor activities and follow advisories, especially children, the elderly and those with respiratory illnesses.

Officials said the situation is being closely monitored, and further restrictions may be imposed if air quality fails to improve. The enforcement of GRAP-III highlights growing concerns over Delhi’s recurring winter pollution crisis and the urgent need for sustained mitigation measures.
