Mumbai: Leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday accused the Centre of imposing an “Emergency” and questioned the security restrictions ahead of their planned demonstration in New Delhi.
Claiming that the government was afraid of Gen Z, the leaders questioned why young protesters were being treated “like Pakistanis”.
In a late-night video message on X, CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke said he would not be intimidated, asserting that the party was committed to protecting democracy.
He said he was prepared to face detention and claimed the government could invoke laws such as the National Security Act (NSA) or the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against him.
Dipke said the party was seeking free and fair elections and demanded Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, the scrapping of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, or a neutral procedure for appointing election commissioners. He urged people to turn up in large numbers at Jantar Mantar for the protest.
