Dubai is gearing up to transform urban travel with futuristic transport solutions aimed at beating traffic congestion and slashing commute times. One of the world’s most crowded cities during peak hours, Dubai is set to introduce driverless vehicles alongside a high-speed, fully electric underground transit system known as the Dubai Loop. Each autonomous vehicle will carry four to six passengers and travel at speeds of up to 50 kmph, promising a smoother, faster, and smarter commuting experience.
The Dubai Loop is designed to shrink a 20-minute road journey to just three minutes. Expected to roll out this year, the project’s groundwork has already begun, confirmed Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Chairman Mattar Al Tayer. The ambitious underground system is being developed by Elon Musk’s The Boring Company, with the first phase estimated to cost 600 million dirhams and the total project cost projected at 2.5 billion dirhams. After Las Vegas in the United States, Dubai will become the next city in the world to adopt this cutting-edge transport technology—bringing the future of mobility closer than ever.
