The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free online updates of Aadhaar card demographic details by one more year, until June 14, 2026.
The announcement came just as the earlier deadline was set to expire on June 14, 2025. Now, cardholders can update key details like name, address, and date of birth at no cost by logging into the myAadhaar portal.
However, for biometric updates — such as photo, fingerprint, and iris scan — individuals must visit a nearby Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
UIDAI continues to recommend updating Aadhaar documents once every 10 years, particularly for those who enrolled long ago, although it’s not mandatory.
As per the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Regulations, 2016, users are advised to upload updated Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents once every decade. Additionally, children must update their Aadhaar records at the ages of 5 and 15.
This move aims to ensure data accuracy and facilitate seamless access to Aadhaar-linked services across government and private platforms.
