Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ in Jalandhar, urging the BJP to focus on drug networks across the country instead of targeting Punjab.
In a statement, the AAP alleged that drug trafficking routes were also operating through BJP-ruled states and called on the Centre to take stronger action against them.
The party also referred to a major drug seizure by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the Indian Coast Guard on the same day as Shah’s anti-drug campaign in Punjab. AAP said the seizure had again raised questions about drug trafficking routes through Gujarat.
The party said Shah should begin the campaign against drugs from Gujarat rather than singling out Punjab.
