Over the coming days, alerts will extend to Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram on Thursday; Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad, and Kannur on Friday; and Palakkad and Malappuram on Saturday. The IMD defines heavy rainfall as precipitation between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours, and has also warned of gusty winds reaching up to 40 kmph.
