PM Showcases India’s Urban Makeover: Cleaner, Greener, Smarter Cities on the Rise

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted an article by Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, praising the government’s sustained efforts in transforming Indian cities into vibrant engines of growth. The article notes a massive 16-fold surge in urban development investment — from ₹1.57 lakh crore in 2004–14 to nearly ₹28.5 lakh crore today — driving visible improvements across the country. From cleaner streets and efficient waste management to affordable housing, faster metro networks, and greener public spaces, India’s urban landscape is undergoing a rapid makeover. The Prime Minister underscored that cities are no longer seen as burdens but as symbols of national pride and progress, steadily moving toward a future that is livable, sustainable, and modern.
