Vizhinjam Port Gets Customs Nod, Set to Emerge as Kerala’s Global Trade Gateway

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s ambitious Vizhinjam International Seaport has secured customs clearance to handle both export-import (EXIM) and domestic cargo, marking a crucial step towards full-scale operations.

The approval from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) is expected to streamline cargo movement, cut logistics costs, and position Vizhinjam as a major transshipment hub on India’s west coast.

Developed by Adani Ports in collaboration with the Kerala government, Vizhinjam’s strategic location along key international shipping lanes gives it a competitive edge to attract global trade. With the clearance in place, commercial operations are likely to begin soon, promising a big boost to Kerala’s economy and connectivity.
