Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s cabinet has taken two landmark decisions aimed at strengthening infrastructure and modernising governance. The state approved a massive ₹8,862.95 crore NABARD loan to fund the Kerala Water Authority’s Jal Jeevan Mission, with ₹5,000 crore to be released in the first phase. The move is expected to accelerate efforts to provide safe drinking water to every rural household.
In another key reform, the cabinet gave the green light to the Kerala Societies Registration Bill, 2025, designed to simplify and modernise the process of registering community organisations. The bill will replace outdated laws, including the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act of 1955, ushering in a more streamlined legal framework.
