Kochi Metro Phase-III to Reach Angamaly via Airport; DPR Work Underway

Kochi: The ambitious third phase of the Kochi Metro—stretching from Aluva to Angamaly via Cochin International Airport (Nedumbassery)—is gaining momentum with the launch of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) study.

The DPR, being prepared by Systra MVA Consulting India Pvt. Ltd. at a cost of ₹1.03 crore, will be submitted in six months. Unlike the existing elevated tracks, this phase will include underground corridors, marking a milestone in Kochi’s urban mobility network.

Covering 17.5 km, the project is supported under the Central Financial Assistance Scheme of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry. KMRL MD Loknath Behera confirmed approvals from both the Centre and the State, and invited public suggestions at contact@kmrl.co.in to shape the project.

Once operational, the extension will drastically cut travel time for airport passengers, offering seamless connectivity. The DPR comes alongside the construction of a new railway station at Nedumbassery, signaling a major transformation in Kerala’s transport infrastructure.
