Rahul Mamkootathil Steps Down as Youth Congress Chief Amid Allegations of Misconduct

Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has resigned as Kerala Youth Congress State President after facing serious allegations of misbehavior towards women. The move comes under the directive of the Congress high command, which instructed the KPCC leadership to ensure his resignation in order to protect the party’s image ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

The resignation follows multiple complaints lodged with the AICC, some from women party workers, along with fresh revelations that intensified the pressure on the leadership. According to reports, the high command has also decided not to grant Mamkootathil a ticket in the next election, signaling a strict stance on the issue.

Mamkootathil, who was holding dual responsibilities as both MLA and Youth Congress President, had already faced internal discussions about being removed from the youth wing post after entering the assembly. However, no decision was made until the latest allegations surfaced. With growing dissent among leaders and increasing public scrutiny, the leadership finally acted to contain the fallout.

This decisive step marks a significant attempt by the Congress to safeguard its credibility and send a clear message on addressing misconduct within its ranks.
