Harbhajan Singh Moves High Court Over Withdrawal of Security Cover

Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh has approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court after the Punjab Police withdrew his security cover following his recent political switch.

Harbhajan Singh, who resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party along with six other Rajya Sabha MPs, has sought court directions to the Punjab government to reinstate his security.

After the withdrawal of state-provided protection, the Centre deployed personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force outside his residence in Jalandhar.

Tensions escalated following the defection, with AAP workers staging protests outside the homes of Singh and fellow MPs Rajinder Gupta and Ashok Mittal.

Demonstrators reportedly vandalised property, spray-painting the word “gaddar” (traitor) on boundary walls in Jalandhar and Ludhiana. The case has brought renewed attention to political tensions in Punjab, particularly in the wake of recent defections and the security concerns surrounding public representatives.
