Thrissur: Due to persistent heavy rainfall, the shutters of the Peechi Dam in Thrissur will be raised further to manage increasing water inflow. Currently, all four shutters are open by 8 inches (20 cm). As rainfall continues in the dam’s catchment areas, inflow into the reservoir has increased significantly.
To regulate the water level, authorities have decided to raise each of the four shutters by an additional 4 inches (10 cm) in stages starting from 8 AM on Sunday, making it a total of 12 inches.
As a result, water levels in the Manali and Karuvannur rivers are expected to rise by up to 20 cm. The Assistant Executive Engineer has advised residents living along the riverbanks to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
