CEE Kerala Republishes KEAM 2025 Rank List After HC Ruling; Major Shifts in Toppers and Board-wise Performance

Thiruvananthapuram: In compliance with a Kerala High Court directive, the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) Kerala has released a revised KEAM 2025 rank list, scrapping the controversial changes to the standardisation formula introduced on July 1. The High Court had ruled that the last-minute changes were “unjustified, arbitrary, and illegal,” ordering a return to the original prospectus dated February 19, which gives equal weightage (1:1:1) to Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

The revised list has dramatically reshuffled top ranks: Joshua Jacob Thomas of Thiruvananthapuram climbs from 5th to 1st, while Hari Kishan Baiju holds on to his 2nd position. Emil Iype Sacharia moves to 3rd, and Adl Zayaan remains in 4th place.

There has been a major shift in board-wise representation as well. CBSE students now dominate the top 100 ranks with 79 spots, up from 55, while state syllabus students have dropped to 21, down from 43. In district-wise performance, Ernakulam leads with 175 students in the top 1,000, followed by Thrissur (114) and Thiruvananthapuram (111).

Higher Education Minister R. Bindu confirmed that the state government will not challenge the court’s ruling, emphasizing the need to complete admissions before the AICTE deadline of August 14.

This development follows expert committee advice from April warning against rushed changes in the ranking formula. With the original standardisation method reinstated, KEAM 2025 admissions are now set to proceed on a fair and transparent basis, restoring confidence among students and parents alike.
