Alappuzha: Popular Malayalam actors Sreenath Bhasi and Shine Tom Chacko appeared before the Alappuzha Excise Office for questioning. Although summoned for 10 AM, both actors arrived early at around 8 AM, signaling the seriousness of the investigation.
Sources reveal that Shine Tom Chacko, currently undergoing treatment at a de-addiction center in Bengaluru, requested officials to conclude the proceedings within an hour to return to his program.
The actors were summoned following revelations made by Tasleema, the prime accused, who alleged that Bhasi and Chacko had consumed drugs along with her. The Excise team is investigating financial transactions between Tasleema and the actors to uncover possible links to narcotics trade.
Adding another layer to the case, Kochi-based model Soumya also appeared for questioning today. Investigators are carefully analyzing digital evidence, including WhatsApp chats and call records recovered from Tasleema’s phone, which reportedly hint at direct connections with the accused.
Officials confirmed that a special questionnaire, tailored from digital evidence, was used during the interrogation. Final decisions, including whether the actors will be formally charged, will be made after assessing their statements and the evidence in hand.
Earlier, Tasleema had informed police that her acquaintance with Shine Tom Chacko began much before her drug-related arrest at a Kochi hotel. Investigators are also probing whether financial dealings between Tasleema and model Soumya were tied to drug transactions.
