KSRTC to Roll Out Digital Payments for Bus Tickets Within Two Months

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to introduce digital payment options across its entire fleet within the next two months, making travel more convenient for passengers. Soon, commuters can purchase tickets using Google Pay, Paytm, credit cards, debit cards, and other digital payment methods.

Live ticketing machines have already been deployed in 40 depots across Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts, with full-scale implementation expected within the planned timeframe.

This project is being executed in partnership with ‘Chalo,’ a company providing ticketing machines, online payment support, GPS systems, and control room infrastructure. KSRTC will pay a rental fee of 16.16 paise per ticket, amounting to an annual cost of ₹10.95 crore.

The new machines will also support the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), a government initiative for seamless travel across different modes of public transport. Real-time ticketing updates will help optimize routes, ensuring better bus allocation for high-demand areas.

Additionally, passengers can track buses in real-time and pre-book tickets through the “Chalo” mobile app, enhancing the overall travel experience.

With this digital transformation, KSRTC aims to modernize public transport by reducing cash dependency, improving efficiency, and providing passengers with a seamless and secure ticketing experience.
