Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government will streamline the functioning of welfare fund boards, ensuring better efficiency and support for beneficiaries, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal announced in the Assembly.
Responding to the Opposition’s concerns regarding the financial struggles of these boards, Balagopal assured that welfare fund board pensions will not be reduced but increased. He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the welfare schemes despite financial challenges.
The minister also stated that steps are being taken to improve fund management, ensuring timely disbursal of pensions and benefits to workers across various sectors. The Opposition had raised concerns about delays and financial instability affecting the boards, prompting the government’s assurance of reforms.
With this announcement, the government aims to address the plight of thousands of pensioners and workers dependent on these welfare schemes.
