Tragic Idukki KSRTC Bus Accident Claims Three Lives, Several Injured

Idukki: A devastating accident occurred near Pullupara in Idukki, when a KSRTC bus veered off the road and plunged into a ravine, claiming the lives of three passengers. The deceased have been identified as Arun Hari, Rama Mohan, and Sangeeth, all hailing from Mavelikkara.

The bus, part of a tourist group traveling from Mavelikkara to Tanjavur, was returning when the tragedy struck. A total of 36 people, including 34 passengers, were aboard at the time of the crash. The tragic accident occurred at 6 AM today when the KSRTC bus, navigating a sharp curve, lost control and rolled down a 30-foot slope. The bus came to a stop after colliding with trees. Local residents were the first to respond to the scene, quickly beginning rescue operations. They rescued passengers by breaking the front windows and pulling them out of the wreckage. Two of the seriously injured passengers were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Pala, but despite all efforts, three passengers tragically succumbed to their injuries. Others, with varying degrees of injury, are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

Initial reports indicate that a brake failure may have caused the bus to lose control, leading to the devastating incident. Rescue operations involved teams from the fire force, highway police, and local residents, who worked together to save the survivors. The accident occurred on the dangerous road between Kuttikkanam and Mundakkayam, a stretch known for its sharp turns and challenging driving conditions. This tragic event has left the community in deep shock. Authorities are now investigating the cause behind the brake failure that led to this devastating loss of life.
