Bengaluru: In a concerning development, Bengaluru has reported its first cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), a respiratory virus that has caused a rise in illnesses globally. The Karnataka Health Department confirmed that an eight-month-old child and a three-month-old infant tested positive for HMPV at Baptist Hospital in north Bengaluru. Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have issued a set of guidelines to curb the spread of HMPV. The public is urged to maintain good hygiene practices, including regular handwashing, mask-wearing, and avoiding close contact with individuals exhibiting respiratory symptoms. Additionally, staying updated through official health channels is advised to stay informed about the latest developments.
