Angamaly Aims to Become Kerala’s First Zero-Waste Municipality

Angamaly, a vibrant town in Kerala, is on a mission to become a zero-waste municipality as part of its ambitious environmental sustainability goals. The town has launched a comprehensive initiative to reduce waste generation and promote effective waste management practices, aligning with Kerala’s growing eco-conscious movement.

Key strategies being implemented include waste segregation at the source, encouraging households and businesses to separate organic, recyclable, and non-recyclable waste. Organic waste will be composted through home and community composting units, reducing landfill dependency.

The municipality is also conducting regular waste collection drives and raising public awareness about recycling, waste reduction, and alternatives to single-use plastics. By partnering with NGOs and enforcing a ban on plastic products, Angamaly is taking significant steps toward becoming a model eco-friendly community.

This visionary project represents the town’s dedication to creating a cleaner, greener future, setting an inspiring example for other municipalities across Kerala
