New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the Centre was committed to developing rural areas and strengthening panchayats, describing the Union Cabinet’s approval of the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Gram Swaraj Yojana as a significant step towards achieving these goals.
The Union Cabinet approved an allocation of ₹7,395 crore for the scheme on Wednesday.
In a post on X, Modi said the government was focused on promoting rural development and empowering local self-governing institutions.
The scheme is aimed at supporting the government’s efforts to strengthen rural areas and enhance the role of panchayats in local development.
