Ayurveda-yoga combination shows promise in managing bedwetting in children

New Delhi: A clinical study by the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar, has found that combining Ayurvedic medicine with yoga may help manage nocturnal enuresis, or bedwetting, among children.

The eight-week study involving around 38 children aged 6-14 found greater improvement among those who received Ayurvedic medicine along with four yoga asanas compared to those who received the medicine alone.

The combined intervention showed around 70 per cent improvement in bedwetting frequency, compared with 38 per cent in the medicine-only group. Improvements were also reported in memory, irritability, hyperactivity and concentration.

The findings have been published in the AYU Journal. The researchers said the results highlight the potential of an integrated Ayurveda and yoga approach in managing bedwetting among children.
