Modi meets Putin on sidelines of BRICS Summit

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, their second meeting this year.

The two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral ties across political, economic, defence, energy, space, skill mobility and people-to-people cooperation. They also visited the INNOPROM India industrial exhibition and interacted with participants.

Modi and Putin discussed key regional and global issues, including conflicts in West Asia and the Black Sea region. Modi reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy remain the way forward to resolve conflicts and said India was ready to support peace efforts.

Putin invited Modi to Russia for the 24th India-Russia Annual Summit. Modi accepted the invitation, with dates to be finalised through diplomatic channels.
