Silvassa: Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on friday praised the rapid development of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu during his maiden visit to the Union Territory.
Addressing a public function at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Government College, he said over 450 infrastructure projects worth more than ₹13,000 crore have been undertaken in the UT over the past decade, including 800 km of roads.
Radhakrishnan highlighted improvements in healthcare and education, including a medical college with 177 seats, new NAMO hospitals and 21 new schools. He also noted that tourist footfall rose from around six lakh in 2021 to nearly 50 lakh in 2025.
The Vice-President said the UT has more than 7,500 manufacturing units and over 2.8 lakh MSME-linked employment opportunities. He described the region as a “mini India”, citing its cultural diversity, social harmony and contributions from people across the country.
