Colombo: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday described the visit of INS Udaygiri to Colombo as a reflection of India’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Sri Lanka and working together for the welfare of people in both countries.The indigenous stealth guided-missile frigate reached the Colombo port on Tuesday, coinciding with Singh’s visit to Sri Lanka.
Rajnath Singh said the naval visit reflects India’s desire to deepen its close ties with Sri Lanka and promote greater cooperation between the two countries.
During its stay, the ship’s crew will take part in a series of goodwill activities with the Sri Lanka Navy. The personnel will also visit several tourist and cultural landmarks in Colombo as part of the engagement.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the longstanding defence and people-to-people ties between India and Sri Lanka.
