Guwahati: Four people have been arrested after police seized 20,000 banned Yaba tablets valued at around Rs 2 crore in two separate operations in Assam’s Sribhumi district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
According to the Chief Minister, the seizures were made during operations targeting the illegal narcotics trade in the district.
Yaba, commonly referred to as “crazy medicine” in Thai, is a synthetic drug containing methamphetamine and caffeine. Methamphetamine is classified as a controlled substance, and the possession and trafficking of Yaba are illegal in India.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the tablets and identify others involved in the suspected drug network.
