New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and Maharashtra on Tuesday, September 8, where he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara.
During his Vadodara visit around noon, Modi will dedicate three key sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) to the nation. Covering 326 route kilometres and developed at a cost of over ₹20,700 crore, the sections will provide direct connectivity to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and improve the movement of export-import cargo.
With the commissioning of these stretches, the entire Dedicated Freight Corridor network will become operational, strengthening India’s logistics infrastructure, reducing transit times and easing congestion on existing railway routes.
Modi will also flag off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT. A new passenger train between Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar) will also be flagged off.
The Prime Minister will dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road new railway line, part of the Chhota Udepur-Dhar project, which will connect remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur with the national rail network.
He will also lay the foundation stones for three railway projects covering 329 km and costing over ₹9,700 crore, along with three National Highway projects worth around ₹1,780 crore.
Several Gujarat government projects valued at about ₹2,600 crore will also be inaugurated or launched, including housing projects under PMAY, the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II and a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam.
Later in the day, at around 5.45 pm, Modi will inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai and address the gathering.
