The Centre has launched an initiative to create a national digital public infrastructure for the tourism sector, aimed at bringing travel-related products and services onto a common digital platform.
The Ministry of Tourism has partnered with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to develop the National Digital Tourism Stack, officials said.
The initiative seeks to make a wide range of tourism experiences and homestays easier for travellers to discover, verify and book through a shared digital ecosystem. The government has set a target of bringing around 23,000 tourism experiences and homestays onto the platform by the end of 2028.
Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched the initiative at an event held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Sunday to mark World Tourism Day.
The project is expected to strengthen the digital ecosystem for tourism businesses while improving access to services for travellers.
