Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for an immediate end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, urging Russian President Vladimir Putin to move from an “endless war towards end of war” and stressing that a peaceful resolution is a shared priority for humanity.
During a meeting with Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Modi said every day that the conflict continues pushes humanity backwards.
Highlighting India’s legacy as the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Gautama Buddha, Modi said New Delhi supports all efforts aimed at achieving peace and will continue to contribute towards such initiatives.
The two leaders also held detailed discussions on bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment, energy security and fertiliser supplies.
