New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India will work to strengthen cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), with a focus on security, connectivity and new opportunities, while pushing for a region free from terrorism.
Modi made the remarks ahead of his two-nation visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, scheduled from August 29 to September 1. He said India would continue to contribute to the SCO’s shared objectives and work closely with member countries to promote peace and stability.
In his departure statement, the Prime Minister said the visit would also provide an opportunity to further strengthen India’s strategic partnerships with Central Asian nations.
He expressed confidence that the tour would deepen India’s longstanding civilisational ties with the region and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Modi said India’s engagement with the wider world is guided by the pursuit of peace, stability and prosperity, and the upcoming visit would contribute to advancing these shared goals.
