Rohit Yadav, Sreeshankar Shine at India’s First Continental Tour Silver Meet

Bhubaneswar: Indian athletes Rohit Yadav and Murali Sreeshankar emerged as the standout performers at the World Athletics Continental Tour silver-level meet in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, with both athletes claiming top honours in their respective events.

Rohit produced a stunning finish in the men’s javelin throw, saving his best attempt for the final round to clinch the title with a personal-best 87.68 metres.

The javelin thrower was fourth after four rounds before moving into second place with an 82.94m effort in the fifth round. He then delivered his winning throw of 87.68m in the final round.

Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Yashvir Singh finished second with 82.94m, while Sri Lanka’s Sumedha Ranasinghe took third place with 80.29m.

Star long jumper Murali Sreeshankar also lived up to expectations by securing the top spot in his event, adding another highlight to India’s maiden World Athletics Continental Tour silver-level competition.
