Government Strengthens MSP Support Through PM AASHA

New Delhi: The government has taken several measures to ensure that farmers, including small and marginal farmers, receive the benefits of the Minimum Support Price (MSP), with the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM AASHA) being a key initiative.

Launched in September 2018, PM AASHA aims to provide remunerative prices to farmers while maintaining price stability for consumers. The scheme brings together various price-support mechanisms based on crop and market conditions.

Under the scheme, procurement arrangements are put in place before each marketing season. Central nodal agencies and state governments prepare the necessary infrastructure to ensure timely procurement, strengthen MSP implementation and reduce distress sales.
